Sharjah Al Hisn Museum

Encounter fascinating galleries of photographs, objects, stories that provide visitors with an opportunity to experience the history of Sharjah.

Built in 1823 and fortified by three towers, Al Hisn fort has served as a seat of government, a royal residence, a prison and now a museum. A row of cannons welcomes visitors, with 12 galleries offering insight into the emirate and its ruling family.

Step inside a round prison cell, discover how to properly present a sword to a sheikh, and pour over historic photographs, old weaponry and exhibits about the naval strength of Sharjah’s Qawasim tribe.
