Set in the manicured grounds of Sharjah’s university district, this centre houses a rich collection of centuries-old maps, manuscripts and books

Tracing the development of life in the Gulf, the prestigious institution showcases rare coins, historic maps and the very first images of the region. It also features a number of exhibits from the personal collection of Sharjah’s ruler.

Do take time to admire models of European ships and Arabian dhows that played a pioneering role in the region’s maritime history, as well as 15th-century reproduction of Ptolemy's groundbreaking world map.

How to get there

Dr. Sultan Al-Qasimi Centre for Gulf Studies is located at the northern entrance of University City, around 12km from the Sharjah city centre.
