A unique historical experience, be sure to visit the Salem Al-Mutawa Mosque located on the coast of Khorfakkan. This mosque, which dates back two centuries, represents an integral part of the city’s history, as it is one of the two oldest mosques in the UAE. It was for a time, printed on the Emirati 5 dirham banknotes. The mosque was renovated in 2011 and renamed to bear the name of its imam. The mosque is famous for its unique architectural design, especially the open minaret that resembles an arch.
