Sharjah Tourism Travel Quiz

Swim with aquatic life in crystal blue waters

When it comes to water sports, Sharjah has a lot to offer. Whether its waterskiing, snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming or even just cruising, you’ll experience a landscape unlike anything else. From diving near a coral reef in Khorfakkan to paddling on a kayak through mangroves, you’ll feel in your element with water. For snorkelling and diving, there are plenty of prime spots within a 20 minute boat ride from the Khorfakkan beach. Find a nearby diving centre to rent equipment or get certified to dive by PADI instructors.

Closer to the city, the waters of nearly every Sharjah beach host thriving ecosystems of turtles, rays, sharks and schools of neon-striped fish. The sandy seaside is also perfect for lounging and relaxation. Or, take a dhow cruise and try to spot a dolphin or two.

How to get there

Popular dive sites near Khorfakkan include Martini Rock, Shark Island, the Anemone Gardens and Coral Gardens. In nearby Fujairah, top spots include Snoopy Island, Dibba Rock and the Car Cemetery. Most of the east coast dive sites are suitable for snorkeling, with Martini Rock a favourite location for families.
