Al Noman: SCTDA keen to support charity projects in Sharjah while promoting tourism and hospitality sector

Date Published: Sunday, May 3, 2015 Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) has joined hands with Sharjah Charity International to promote cooperation in the field of charity and raise awareness among tourists about welfare activities in Sharjah by launching the ‘Ma Al Khair’ charity initiative. The announcement was made at a press conference on Thursday, April 30, at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, attended by H.E. Mohamed Ali Al Noman, Chairman of SCTDA; H.E. Sultan Bin Butti Al Muhairi, Vice Chairman of Sharjah Charity International; H.E. Abdullah Mubarak Al Doukhan, Secretary General of Sharjah Charity International; H.E. Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Director General of SCTDA; and H.E. Abdullah Sultan Bin Khadim, Executive Director and Board Member of Sharjah Charity International. Addressing the press conference, H.E. Mohamed Ali Al Noman said SCTDA has been working with Sharjah Charity International for the past several years, supporting its various charity activities during the holy month of Ramadan every year. These include arrangements for Iftar meals, distribution of Zakat and Sadaqat Al Fitr charities and clothes among the needy families on the occasion of Eid within and outside the emirate, he said. H.E. Al Noman said the launch of ‘Ma Al Khair’ initiative is the outcome of long years of cooperation and coordination between the two sides, and reaffirmed the Authority’s keenness to provide all support for charitable projects in the emirate while promoting the tourism and hospitality sector. H.E. Al Noman pointed out that the tourism and hospitality sector in the emirate has witnessed remarkable growth in the past few years with hotels in Sharjah receiving more than two million guests last year. As part of the new cooperation initiative, he said, the Authority is looking forward to involving the industry partners by encouraging charitable projects and activities in hotels across the emirate. SCTDA will distribute leaflets to promote awareness among hotel guests and tourists about the humane side of Sharjah’s culture and heritage, and its contribution to social and humanitarian causes, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, H.E. Al Noman said. Lauding the Sharjah Charity International’s noble initiative, Al Noman offered the Authority’s best wishes for the success of its initiatives and future projects, particularly ‘Ma Al Khair’ project. Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Abdullah Mubarak Al Doukhan, said the Emirate of Sharjah has witnessed great prosperity under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. “Sharjah Charity Association has been offering aid to thousands in various projects. We have launched with SCTDA ‘Ma Al Khair’ charity initiative that will help us expand our contributions for the poor and needy. As part of this effort, we will place 240 charity boxes in different locations in Sharjah,” H.E. Al Doukhan said. “We reaffirm our commitment to continue our charity initiative that we began a quarter of a century back by extending our hands to the needy,” H.E. Al Doukhan added.
