Date Published: Thursday, December 18, 2014 The Sharjah Water Festival, 2014 since it opened on Wednesday (December 17) at Al Majaz Waterfront and Khalid Lagoon has been attracting thousands of visitors and families with its attractive line-up of internationally acclaimed shows and entertainment activities, wowing visitors of all ages. The Extreme Water Sport Shows in Khalid Lagoon are turning out to be the special attraction this year. Scheduled at 5 pm and 8 pm, the Water Sport Shows feature 16 highly skilled water sports enthusiasts and performers who combine their daredevil skills and prowess with machine to enthrall the spectators. Using Jet skis, kiteboards, flyboards and speedboats, they create a breathtaking spectacle that is truly beautiful and has never before seen. The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, the organisers of the festival for the eighth consecutive year, are sparing no effort to ensure that the visitors are offered a truly rewarding experience as well as world-class amenities and services. A special free seating arena has been created to watch the Water Sport Shows and other activities at Al Majaz Waterfront. It can accommodate up to a thousand people. Al Majaz Waterfront, the main venue of the Sharjah Water Festival, is open from 4 pm to 11 pm and is hosting a number of shows and attractions. The Sharjah Water Festival this year also features a Heritage Village. Divided into three sections, the Heritage Village helps visitors discover the rich heritage of the UAE and explore with your children the popular culture, customs and traditions of the ancestors. The three sections include Heritage Majlis, Modern Age and Get a Taste of It. The Sand Sculptures section is another big draw at Al Majaz Waterfront attracting a large number of families. The visitors have an opportunity to see international artists create magic out of sand and spawn amazing sculptures and forms. Children can join in the fun by creating their own sculptures and photographing them to post on social networking sites every night to win prizes. As always, the Carnival and Roaming Musicians Shows are adding to the celebrations and festive atmosphere keeping everyone, especially children, entertained. The Sharjah Water Festival has always held a special attraction for children who await every year for the opportunity to meet and cuddle their special friend, Mouj, the SWF mascot.
