Sharjah is well connected to international airports in both Sharjah and Dubai, which welcome flights from many global hubs.

The Sharjah International Airport (SHJ) made aviation history when the first flight landed at the Al Mahatta runway in 1932. It served as a stopover point for Imperial Air flights en-route to India and Australia and has since evolved into a top-tier and modern international airport welcoming flights from all around the world. In 2016, SHJ set a new record serving over 11 million passengers.

Sharjah International Airport is conveniently located just 10 km away from the city centre, and is about a 20-minutes drive from the nearby emirates. A taxi into Sharjah city will cost between Dhs 45 and Dhs 65, including a starting tariff of Dhs 20.
