Al Rayaheen Retreat is a distinctive collection of restored heritage houses in Khorfakkan, offering guests the opportunity to stay within a setting shaped by local history, architecture, and traditional Arabian hospitality. Developed as part of Sharjah Collection, the retreat preserves the character of the area while introducing contemporary comfort and refined accommodation.
The retreat comprises 20 restored heritage houses in total, with 19 dedicated to guest stays and the largest transformed into a reception area, restaurant, and small historical exhibition. Accommodation ranges from one- to four-bedroom houses, making the retreat suitable for couples, families, and groups seeking a more private and spacious stay.
Many of the houses retain their original courtyards and mature trees, some more than a century old, while the surrounding gardens feature palm, henna, and basil plants that reflect the character of the former Fareej Al Rayhan. The retreat takes its name from the basil once associated with the neighbourhood.
Guests can explore the nearby old souq and discover the heritage character of Khorfakkan, while a range of experiences including kayaking, water activities, fishing trips, and tours around the city and its beaches offer different ways to experience the destination.
Combining restored architecture, local memory, and modern comfort, Al Rayaheen Retreat offers an intimate stay rooted in the cultural identity of Khorfakkan.
Al Rayaheen Retreat is located on Old Souq Street in Khorfakkan, on Sharjah’s east coast. It can be reached by road from Sharjah city and the surrounding eastern region, with the retreat positioned close to the old souq and Khorfakkan’s heritage and coastal attractions.
