Sharjah Tourism Travel Quiz

Take a leisurely stroll along the picturesque waterfront and explore the shops offering spices and herbs, henna, clothes and textiles and more

In the past, Souq Saqr was a centre of gold trading, with the bustling waterfront packed with dhows laden with goods destined for Iran, Pakistan and India. Today, you can take a leisurely stroll along the Corniche and explore this authentic old bazaar in air-conditioned comfort.

Prices are very reasonable and you can stock up on spices and herbs, henna and fragrances, perfumes and oils, sheesha pipes and flavoured tobacco. There are also larger stores selling Arabic abayas, sheilas and serwals, along with ladies' tailors specialising in national, bridal and beaded clothes.

How to get there

Also known as Souk Al Bahar (‘market by the sea’), the souk runs parallel to Sharjah Creek and is located in the eastern section of the Heart of Sharjah heritage district.
