Venture onto saffron-colored sand dunes in a breathtaking desert landscape

Big Red is the largest sand dune close to the city, making it the ultimate spot for desert sports and scenic views. Located near Al Badayer, this dune is particularly busy on the weekends for dune bashing, quad biking and sand skiing.

Adventurers needn’t bring motorised equipment, since there are many services close by for quad bike, dirt bike and buggy rentals. With enclosed areas for beginners, children too can try to pick up an adventure sport. There are also more things to do with kids at Big Red, including picnicking as a family while watching the sunset over a sea of red sand.

Reach Big Red with tour companies as part of a desert safari. Alternatively, drive here and set up your own desert camp in the soft sand. With many dunes around, you can also take your pick of routes for a short hike.

How to get there

Al Badayer (Big Red) is found off the E44 Dubai-Hatta Road near Al Badayer, around 65km southeast of Sharjah city centre.
