A vibrant market community with the choicest dates from all emirates, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Iran arrive for Emiratis and other residents and visitors.
There are tonnes of fresh and dried dates on display at this small souk, and traders encourage you to sample their wares as you browse. Dates can cost as little as Dhs10 per kilogram or as much as Dh150, depending on the variety. Popular varieties to look out for include Medjool, Arwa, Bou Maan and Dabbas.
Like most of Sharjah’s souks, the date emporium comes alive on the weekend and in the evening. It is especially popular during the Holy Month of Ramadan, when the faithful flock here to stock up on sweet treats to break their fast.
