The perfect place to relax and explore amongst the Hajar mountains

One of the most beautiful areas nestled between the Hajar mountains on the east coast of UAE. The Valley and the surrounding Hajar Mountain terrain is subsequently an area of natural beauty. It is represented by narrow mountain tracks – best tackled by 4 x4 vehicles – rocky outcrops, traditional settlements, farmland and date palm plantations; offers rewarding opportunities for experiencing striking natural scenery, hiking and camping. This hidden gem is now much more accessible from the new Khorfakkan road 142.

The perfect place to relax and explore amongst the Hajar mountains. Following 500m of winding walkways, visitors can look out over the beautifully designed park which spans over 11,300 sqm, stopping at vantage points to take in the stunning mountain landscape. A fun children’s play area is situated below, along with dedicated BBQ pits, shaded benches, and a spectacular man-made 25-meter-high waterfall.

Shees park is located on the new Khorfakkan road 142 and it is about one-hour drive from the emirate of Sharjah. The park is considered one of the prominent projects that encourage ecotourism in the eastern region of Sharjah. Characterized by its unique location between tall mountains, providing visitors with an uniqueexceptional tourist experience, and a chance to explore the mountain ranges of the region. The park was inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi,UAE, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on 15 October, 2020. The park includes several paths of 506 meters surrounded by palm trees, a collection of native plants, a games area and 32 shaded areas for families, an outdoor theater with a capacity of 70 people and a barbecue area equipped with high standards of safety and environmental care.

Those looking to venture beyond the park can follow one of the tracks to Shees Valley for a scenic hiking trail. The path winds between the mountains and runs alongside a picturesque waterway, joining an old village and local farms. There is incredible biodiversity in the area, too. Lucky hikers can spot native species of plants and animals thanks to nearby freshwater sources. A beautiful area of palm trees provides some shade, however, there are no major rest spots on the trail and so visitors are advised to bring water, food, and appropriate footwear.
