Built in 1915 as part of a defense network for Khorfakkan, the Al Rabi Tower is at the zenith of a well-marked trail that zigzags up the mountain with panoramic views. A safe fun hike, this trail is often referred to as a beginner’s hike and is good for people with little experience and children. The route is well marked and affords views all the way along. There are a few parking spots at the start of the trail, however these get filled quickly, more parking can be found lower down the hill – which means a slightly longer trek. Busy at the weekends.

Advice

Hiking in Sharjah is rarely dangerous, with well equipped facilities and information boards along most of the emirate’s walks. Help and phone signals are usually close at hand if ever needed but do make sure to keep plenty of water at hand, a small medical kit (plasters and insect bite ointment) may be useful. Don’t forget to take all your packaging and rubbish away with you so we can keep the beautiful places beautiful!
