Sharjah Tourism Travel Quiz

Heading out of Sharjah city towards Kalba will bring you to this spectacular point, known as Fossil Rock. Millions of years ago much of Arabia was under the ocean and many of the fossils here are said to be over 80 million years old. Once you arrive at Fossil Rock, take a moment to sit among fossils that are over millions of years old, enjoy clear blue skies, rocky hills and pristine desert sand in one of the UAE's natural wonders. One short, steep vertical rock-climbing section might be difficult for some. There is no shade on this route so start early morning or late afternoon.

Advice

Hiking in Sharjah is rarely dangerous, with well equipped facilities and information boards along most of the emirate’s walks. Help and phone signals are usually close at hand if ever needed but do make sure to keep plenty of water at hand, a small medical kit (plasters and insect bite ointment) may be useful. Don’t forget to take all your packaging and rubbish away with you so we can keep the beautiful places beautiful!
